For the year 2021-22 Akademos Scholarship program, we received a total of 68 applications. A majority of the applicants were girls. The scholars were selected through 14 hours of rigorous interview and assessment process that gave due consideration to both their academic record and compelling circumstances – not just one.
Among the scholars are aspiring engineers, doctors, journalists and social activists, all of whom hail from working class families in both Mariabad and Hazara Town, Quetta. They are:

I come from a big family. My brother's medical condition has made it difficult for my father to support our education. My elder siblings have had to quit their education as a result. In spite of the difficulties we have faced, I have continued to work hard to get a good education. Akademos Scholarship will help me get higher education. I aspire to join public service so that i can be of service to the community.
I and all my siblings are students. My mother and grandfather have been providing for us and supporting our education. My sister Saima Batool is a former Akademos Scholar from the academic year 2018-2019. She is now a student at the University of Central Punjab, Lahore.
Akademos Scholarship enabled my sister to continue her education. It will enable me to get higher education and pursue my dreams.
I live in a society where education is an essential need for individuals and communities. It is a tool for both survival and progress. Hardships have prevented many people like me from getting higher education. I and my siblings depend on my mother for our needs. With support from Akademos, i plan to continue my education and become a civil servant.
I belong to a working class family. My father is our breadwinner, and he has had to look after all of us. I have three other siblings who are all students. With support from Akademos i aspire to complete my college education before pursuing a career in finance. My goal is to become a Chartered Accountant.
I am the eldest of four sisters. We are all students. I don't have a brother. I don't want that to be a disadvantage for my parents and my family. I have been a consistently high-achieving student at school. I have been teaching English to junior students. I aspire to get higher education and achieve the goals that i and my parents have worked so hard to achieve.
I come from a big family. Owing to my father's medical condition, i have had to support myself through my job as a teacher. I have been a high-achieving student. I have participated in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. With support from Akademos, i aspire to pursue higher education in order to achieve my goals but also to break the cycle of poverty.
I have been a high-achieving student throughout my schooling. In addition to my education, I have had to work as a tailor to help support my family. Owing to our difficult financial situation, my siblings could not get higher education. My late mother's medical condition has inspired me to pursue a medical degree. I aspire to become a nephrologist. Akademos Scholarship will help me take another step in the pursuit of that goal.
