Akademos very excited to announce the beginning of a new Supplementary Learning Class in the Qala-e-Naw neighbourhood of Dashti Barchi, Kabul.

In coordination with our partner, Resources of Young Afghans, Inc., we set up this class in the memory of Abdul Samad Amiri, an Afghan human rights activist murdered by the Taliban in September 2019. The class is taught by Samad’s brother-in-law, Hassan Haidary.

Hassan has screened and selected approximately twenty needy children in 1st through 4th grades for his two-hour daily class and is in the process of adding more girls. He teaches classes in English, Dari, Math, and Art.

These classes provide students with much needed remedial education to help them achieve improved competencies in core academic skills such as literacy and numeracy.

We are grateful to our friends at Star Educational Society for the free use of a classroom in their D Branch.

We thank you all for helping make this and other classes possible through your valuable donations and support. This would not have been possible without your help.
